Spike in Viral Infections Across Delhi-NCR Amid Seasonal Shift

Seasonal shifts bring a spike in viral illnesses, impacting families across Delhi-NCR

A recent survey by LocalCircles has revealed a significant rise in viral fever cases across Delhi-NCR, with at least 54% of households reporting one or more members experiencing symptoms such as headaches, cough, fatigue, mild fever, and respiratory issues.

As viral infections continue to spread, experts recommend maintaining hygiene, wearing masks in crowded places, and seeking medical care if symptoms persist.

Who is Most Vulnerable?

According to the survey, elderly individuals (50+) and young children are the most susceptible to the ongoing viral outbreak. People with pre-existing conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, COPD, and cardiac issues are also at higher risk.

Hospitals across the region have reported an increase in cases of pneumonia and bronchitis, indicating that the infections are becoming more severe in certain individuals.

Survey Insights: Rising Trend in Illnesses

The survey gathered responses from over 13,000 residents in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad. The results highlight:

  • 9% of respondents reported that four or more members in their household are sick.
  • 45% stated that 2-3 individuals in their family are affected.
  • 36% reported that their household remains unaffected.

When compared to a previous survey conducted in August 2024, the percentage of affected households has increased from 38% to 54%, indicating a significant rise in seasonal illnesses.
